Raku has proven to be a versatile decorative style, fitting well into contemporary and traditional decors.

What We Offer

Twenty years ago, John developed a specialty in Urns for ashes Today, Dodero Urns are available in a wide selection of sizes and colors.

Cachepots or orchid planters have been a main stay of this line for many years, a Cachepot or Flower bowl is an ideal choice for your favorite orchid or exotic flora.

The pottery is cast from our originals, this makes the shapes and sizes very consistent and delivery times predictable. The Raku glazes have a random quality and can vary depending on glaze thickness and firing conditions. It is always a subjective call in ceramics as to what is a technical flaw or an aesthetic quality, we do our best to make that distinction on a piece to piece basis, please keep this in mind if you have a low tolerance for glaze inconsistencies.

About Dodero Studio Ceramics

John Dodero started out creating original hand-crafted art pottery in 1970. Since then Dodero Studio Ceramics has blossomed into a full-service production studio with a web presence and supplying retailers nationwide. Designed and produced in John’s home studio in southern Oregon, Dodero Studio Ceramics are cast from originals for consistency, prompt delivery and competitive pricing. Workshop will entail;

Overview of the benefits of slip casting your work.
Studio tour of casting set up and production process from mixing the dry clay to shipping and packing.
Demonstration of making a two piece mould with a hemispherical parting line, using a wheel thrown original model.
Assess pieces of participants and instruct how a mould can be made from it.
Working with #1 Pottery Plaster
Slip casting process; mixing slip, pouring moulds, demoulding.

Raku glaze preparation, application and firing:
Glaze calculation and materials
Use of glaze stains and oxides
Dipping-Spraying
Glaze trouble shooting; bring a glaze you are having problems with.
Kiln set up and firing
Throwing with ribs
Other tricks or areas of interest of participants
